Wspr is designed with privacy as a core principle. This policy explains how the app handles your data.

Data Collection

Wspr does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data to us. We have no servers, no analytics, no crash reporting, and no user accounts.

Audio Processing

All speech-to-text transcription is performed entirely on your device using whisper.cpp with GPU acceleration. Your audio recordings are processed locally and are never sent to any external server. Temporary audio files are deleted immediately after transcription.

AI Text Rewriting

Wspr offers optional AI text rewriting through:

• Cloud AI providers (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini) — If you choose to use a cloud provider, your transcribed text is sent directly from your device to the provider's API using your own API key. Wspr does not route this data through any intermediary server. Your use of these services is subject to the respective provider's privacy policy.

API Keys

API keys you enter for cloud AI providers are stored securely in your system's credential store (macOS Keychain, Windows Credential Manager, or Linux Secret Service). They are never transmitted to us or any third party. They are used solely to authenticate your requests directly with the AI provider you selected.

Local Storage

Wspr stores the following data locally on your device:

• App preferences and settings (config.json)
• Transcription history (stored locally)
• Usage counts for the free tier
• Whisper models you download

None of this data is transmitted off your device.

In-App Purchases

Purchases are handled through Polar.sh. We do not process or have access to your payment information. License keys are delivered via email and activated in the app.

Third-Party Services

Wspr does not include any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs.

Children's Privacy

Wspr does not knowingly collect any data from children or anyone else.

Changes to This Policy

If this privacy policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a revised date.
